The Fifth Chakra: Vishuddhi (Throat)

The fifth chakra, Vishuddhi, is located at the centre of our throat and governs our ability to communicate, both verbally and non-verbally.

Vishuddhi is concerned with the expression of our thoughts and ideas. It controls thought processes and what is expressed through communication. 

It is believed that the throat chakra is responsible for telepathic and psychic abilities, picking up energy vibrations from other people’s minds.

Long-term emotional stress can have a negative impact on Vishuddhi and impair our ability to express pain and trauma.

An unbalanced throat chakra can cause over-talking, mindless distractions and gibberish speech. Because we are speaking so much, we are unable to listen effectively and will constantly lose our train of thought.

If energy in this area is blocked, we tend to give out unclear and confusing messages. We are not able to express our true thoughts and often say something different from what we are thinking. A lack of honest communication will lead to breakdowns in relationships.
